ETHAN Laird's wait for a Cherries debut looks set to drag into February as the loanee continues to nurse an injury.

The Manchester United full-back has been struggling with an unspecified knock since arriving at the club earlier this month.

Laird, who featured regularly on loan at Swansea City during the first half of this season, has not played since a 4-1 defeat with the Swans against Nottingham Forest on December 11.

And the 20-year-old will not be ready to face Hull City on Saturday (3pm).

"Ethan won’t be in contention for the weekend," said Cherries boss Parker.

"I’m not sure he’ll be in contention for the next game (Barnsley) as well. Just treading a little bit carefully there.

"He’s not with the team, but he is on the grass and he’s doing his work. Now we’ll just build him up.

"I don’t want to take any huge risks with him. Want to get him to a level and get him right.

"Obviously it’s going to be an important back-end of the season now, so we’re just treading a little bit carefully on that."

Another player definitely absent will be October-signing Robbie Brady.

The Republic of Ireland international, who spent four years at Hull, was not part of the squad that lost 3-2 to Luton Town last time out, but did feature off the bench against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Parker told the Daily Echo: "He won’t be around this weekend either, Robbie.

"Robbie is now out on the grass, but we just need to take it easy with Robbie.

"It’s been a bit stop-start so far. We need to get a prolonged period and we just don’t want him coming back at the moment at 70 per cent and trying to get through something.

"I need him right up there and then try and keep him there really. Hence why we’re just being a little bit slower on that."

Laird and Brady join long-term absentees Junior Stanislas (hamstring) and Adam Smith (knee) in being unavailable to face Hull City.

Parker also confirmed he will make late calls on the inclusions of Philip Billing and Jordan Zemura.
