YEOVIL Town boss Darren Sarll revealed his side had been victims of a coronavirus outbreak, ahead of their FA Cup third-round contest against Cherries.

The sides are set to go toe-to-toe in at Huish Park tomorrow (5.45pm) with the National League Glovers’ preparations rocked by the virus over the past few days.

Speaking to the media this morning, former Stevenage boss Sarll said: “We’ve had a bad week of COVID cases.

“Yesterday it was only 12 available but we’re hopeful to have more by Saturday.

“You need a certain amount of time to prepare people for this sort of game. We’re playing the best team outside the league, you need time to develop a strategy but we’ve not had that luxury this week.”

Cherries have themselves been hit with coronavirus issues, which meant Monday’s Championship clash with Peterborough at Vitality Stadium was postponed.

Despite the non-league outfit’s difficulties, Sarll is hoping the Somerset side’s fans give them an extra boost against Scott Parker’s men.

“The fans are the extra player,” he added.

“It’s an exciting challenge, but the crowd is the 12th player for sure. They have to be understanding, and the great thing about our fans is they know their football. The way we play will have to be different.”
