CHERRIES Women midfielder Molly Clark has been voted as the best women's beach soccer player in the world.

Clark, who was also nominated in 2018, was invited to the awards ceremony in Dubai, after the shortlist of 30 was reduced to just three players.

Her accolades in beach soccer include a silver medal with Team GB at the 2019 World Beach Games. She has also represented England at a European Championship, as well as playing in the Euro Beach League.

Having received the award, the 30-year-old quickly returned to England to play for Cherries the following day, as they lost on penalties in the National League Cup away at Hashtag United in Canvey Island.

Cherries Women boss Steve Cuss told the club website: "Myself as the manager, the assistant manager and all the players were so proud of Molly for winning that award.

“It’s something that she works really hard at and she trains really hard. She thoroughly deserves all the accolades that she gets.

“For her to go to Dubai on Saturday night and get back to play our game on Sunday shows unbelievable commitment that she puts into playing for AFC Bournemouth.

“We’re delighted as a group and the girls were all delighted to see her on Sunday.

"They all signed a card for her and we were all following it the night before when the results were being given out, so we’re all absolutely thrilled for Molly.”
