POOLE Pirates star Benjamin Basso revealed he is still feeling "a little bit sore" after recent crashes, despite his impressive display on Wednesday evening.

The young Dane, who early last month suffered a tyre burn to his leg after a collision at Wimborne Road, then damaged his ribs after crashing whilst riding for Team Fjelsted back in his homeland.

Basso missed Pirates' Knockout Cup semi-final first leg loss at Leicester due to the injury, but returned in time for the league meeting with Redcar Bears on September 22.

After a brilliant start to the night with two race wins from two, Basso's night was ended early after careering into the air fence and hurting the opposite side of his rib cage to the crash the previous Wednesday.

But Basso battled back to race for Pirates in this week's thrilling second-leg success against Leicester at Wimborne Road, scoring an important 6+2 as Poole moved into the cup final.

Discussing his recent injuries, Basso said: "I’m still a little bit sore after the crash.

"Ribs, they take a long time, so just have to rest up.

"I have a week off now again. So they will be good sooner or later. I just have to keep resting."
