CREATIVE Ryan Christie set his sights on his first Cherries goal after setting up two against Luton.

Christie’s deft chip paved the way for Philip Billing to slam home the opener on 17 minutes at Vitality Stadium.

The former Celtic man then provided the cross for Dominic Solanke to net what proved to be the winner.

Reece Burke’s deflected strike off Lloyd Kelly proved a consolation for the Hatters – but Christie was pleased to see Cherries hold firm to seal a 2-1 win.

He told the Daily Echo: “That’s my job as an attacking player – to come up with goals and assists.

“I’m chomping at the bit to get my first goal but if it’s a couple of assists, I’ll take that for now.

“That’s my job, that’s the pressure that’s on me. I like that kind of pressure and dealing with that – delighted for the boys who scored as well.”

Victory sent Cherries back to the top of the Championship table.

Assessing the contest as a whole, the Scotland international said: “Listen, first of all it’s three points, that’s the most important thing.

“First half I think we played really well and executed the game plan down to a tee with what we wanted to do and got our goals for that, which was nice.

“I think we were a wee bit frustrated at half-time we didn’t go 3-0 and put it to bed. The game obviously completely changed, they went a lot more direct second half.

“The gaffer touched on it. That’s when it’s harder not to play that nice football when the ball is less on the floor – you just have to dig in.

“There was a couple of boys feeling a wee bit frustrated but it’s just the standards we set ourselves.

“That second half, we did what we had to do. We were frustrated because of the goal but after that we defended our box well and get the three points, so that’s the important thing.

“It keeps us unbeaten, which was nice.”
