BOSS Scott Parker insists he does not see as a negative new signing Jamal Lowe's lack of game-time so far, insisting: "He can just sit back and take his time."

Lowe featured heavily in almost every EFL game over the past few seasons whilst at Portsmouth and Swansea City.

However, following his deadline-day move from the Swans, chances have been limited for the forward.

Due to the impressive form of the likes of Dominic Solanke and Jaidon Anthony, both of Lowe's favoured positions on the pitch are currently occupied.

The 27-year-old has played just eight minutes of action for Cherries so far, coming off the bench as a late substitute in wins over Barnsley and Cardiff City.

Asked if he had spoken to Lowe ahead of his move from Swansea about having to be patient for his chance at Cherries with Solanke the first-choice striker, Parker told the Daily Echo: "No not really, it wasn’t a conversation that I had.

"Jamal can also play off the sides as well, so it opens that. We’re (eight) games into a big, long season at the moment. That’s where it is for a few of these players. That’s just how it is.

"It’s my job to manage these situations, of course it is. I think I’m pretty good at doing that.

"But at the same time my main message is just keep working hard and wait for your opportunity. Your opportunity will come and you just need to take it."

Bournemouth Echo:

He added: "I think sometimes as players, as impatient as they are, I was as well when I was a player, sometimes you’ve got to just sit back and see it for what it is really.

"Keep working hard. That’s going to be an issue at times this year with us. We’ve got a very good squad now.

"Seeing the players that are doing well, sometimes you have to just sit from afar. I always say, make sure you’re ready when the opportunity comes.

"That’s the most important thing really, because you let something affect you sitting in the background and you’re not still keeping up to speed for when you’re opportunity comes, as quick as your opportunity comes, it disappears again.

"It disappears and then to be honest with you, you’re then on the back foot again. So I always say, always make sure that when your opportunity comes, you need to try and take it.

"The only way you take it is by making sure the work you’ve done prior to the opportunity, you’ve worked hard and are in a good place really."

Discussing conversations he's had with Lowe since his arrival on the south coast, Parker added: "I’ve spoken to Jamal over the last few weeks. First and foremost spoke to him about coming in and obviously taking a vision, taking a sight from training, watching things, understanding things.

"I've been close with him in terms of explaining what we want from him and where I see him. But it’s constant really.

"At this present moment in time, Jamal’s not had a lot of time on the pitch. Do I see that as a real bad thing or a real negative? No, not really.

"He’s new, he’s coming in. I think sometimes you need a little bit of oxygen when that happens, different environment, what’s asked of you is very different.

"I’m in a fortunate position at this present moment in time where he can sit back and take some air and not be in the running and the stresses of performance, form, scoring goals, new environment, everything different and he can just sit back and take his time. I’m going to need him this year, he’s going to be called upon. So he knows that."

He continued: "I think he has to adapt to our training. That’s probably a bit different to what he’s used to, so he has to adapt to that.

"The style in which we play at maybe he has to adapt to in terms of what we ask of him, his roles, movements, the positions we’re going to want him to take up.

"He definitely has to adapt to that and that’s going to have to come from the training ground really. Of course there is elements of that and he’s picking that up.

"He’s versatile in the sense he can play off the sides, he can play as a nine. So he gives us options."
