THREE fathers and their sons ran out for New Milton’s third XV in their league opener against Kingsclere.

Steve Dossett and lad Ollie, Joe Short and boy Gabe and Paul Eldridge and son Joe were part of an impressive performance from the home side.

It was the first game in 18 months due to the lockdowns imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, with New Milton triumphing 22-7.

The club's first team also returned to action for their first game since February 2020 with a resounding 57-0 win over Alresford in Hampshire Premier.

Milton ran in nine tries on the day, with a flurry coming in the second half.

The hosts led 17-0 at the break courtesy of tries from Gerard Swamers, Nathan Smith and Connor Hamerstone.

Alex Everett-Bolter, Christian Brown and Chris Conacher all scored early in the second period to take the game out of Alresford's reach.

Further tries from Yenai Tinley, Conacher and Nathan Smith added gloss to the scoreline.
