WIMBORNE boss Christer Warren has admitted he would look to strengthen his squad if they secured promotion to the Southern League.

But the Cuthbury chief immediately put that statement into context by stressing they were always looking for better players, regardless of what level they were playing in.

Magpies host fellow Wessex Premier title challengers VT FC tomorrow (3pm) lying only four points behind leaders Poole Town.

With second-placed Totton visiting the Dolphins, it is definitely a case of Super Saturday' in the top flight with two crucial six-pointers", especially as it was revealed this week all four clubs had officially applied for promotion.

Asked if he would need to strengthen his squad if Wimborne went up, Warren said: "Even if we stay in the Wessex, it's a case of we would always try to freshen it up.

"You only have to look at the players we have got at the moment. A lot of them have played higher level football.

"It is a big step up to the Southern. But look at the likes of Winchester City. I see us on a par with them.

"If we did go up I don't think we would go straight back down. We would be okay.

"It is time that the club goes on to better things.

"You speak to everyone else in the league and they probably feel the same way about our club.

"Wimborne have carved out such a good name for themselves around the Wessex but they probably feel we should look to go up."

Warren, however, remains mindful how tough it will be for them to finish in the top two, let alone win the title, ahead of their first clash against Vospers this season.

"He has named the same squad that drew 1-1 at Totton last Saturday.
