KYLE Taylor has lifted the lid on his deadline day Exeter City transfer and revealed: “Speaking to the manager reaffirmed my decision, this club shares similar values to Bournemouth so that’s exciting for me.”

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder signed a three-year deal with the League Two Grecians and will now look forward to another campaign in the fourth division, after spending last season at Southend United.

Taylor had been involved heavily with the first-team during pre-season and made an EFL Cup start in the Norwich 6-0 drubbing, but will play no further part in Cherries’ future.

Speaking to the club website after his Exeter move, Taylor admitted: “"Speaking to the manager, it reaffirmed my decision.

“I’ve played here a couple of times with Bournemouth, this club shares similar values with Bournemouth so it's a really exciting time for me."

"I'm really happy. It's been such a quick turnaround and I only arrived this morning. I've played here against the academy a lot and once I spoke to the manager I knew it was the right move

"The standards that are set here are really what sold it to me. The club has loads of ambition.”

The Grecians have reached three of the last five play-off finals in League Two, and only finished two places out of the play-offs in the two seasons they didn’t.

And surely they will be targeting the top end of the table again for the 2021-22 campaign – while Taylor’s last League Two experience ended with eventual relegation.

Taylor did play alongside Timothee Dieng at the Shrimpers, though, who is now a permanent Exeter City teammate after moving earlier in the summer.

He added: "I'm hoping the experience in League Two before helps me settle in quicker, and I can't wait to get going. It's always easier joining a club when you know someone already here as well.

“It’s just the opportunity and the every day work to be better, to improve. I think training is a massive part leading in to games. The club has got the ambition to push up the league and try to get promoted.

“I just want to take it day by day, it’s about coming in each day and getting better, and if I can help the team get promoted then that’s the biggest aim.”
