SCOTT Parker insists Cherries have “done really, really well” in the recent summer transfer window that saw the departure and replacement of the likes of talisman Arnaut Danjuma.

The enigmatic winger exited for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal in a deal worth up £21.4million, before deadline day brought the signings of highly-rated forwards Jamal Lowe and Ryan Christie.

First-team squad members Sam Surridge, Asmir Begovic and Diego Rico also went out the door as Cherries welcomed seven new players, including two loanees in left-back Leif Davis and Manchester City winger Morgan Rogers.

As a result of all of their business, Cherries were able to repopulate a squad that was looking rather young and thin going into the season, while making a profit that will be crucial to the running of the club.

Speaking to the club website, head coach Parker said: “It’s been a really positive transfer window, I think we’ve done really, really well and completed some good business.

“I think the people who have been responsible for doing that – Richard (Hughes), Neill (Blake), and the owner - deserve big credit because when you look at the squad we’ve got now, I think the balance is very good.

“We’ve got experience as well as a young, dynamic, fresh look to us and I think we tick a lot of boxes.”

As well as important incomings, Parker and Cherries were able to give out some new contracts and ensure outgoing players instead stayed at Vitality Stadium.

Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas both signed new two-year deals to remain at the club until summer 2023.

Parker added: “At the start of pre-season when I came in, there was a lot of work to be done in the sense of a lot of players to come in and trying to re-sign players and build the squad.

“Now the job is getting together, gelling as a team and getting onto the field and proving ourselves.”
