BOSS Scott Parker insisted Cherries would make a late call on Gary Cahill’s availability ahead of Saturday’s trip to Hull.

The former Chelsea and Crystal Palace man arrived at Vitality Stadium last week having previously been a free agent, following the expiration of his contract at Selhurst Park.

He has been in training at the Dorset club, as he looks to get up to speed ahead of his debut for Parker’s side.

Asked about the possibility of seeing Cahill this weekend, the Cherries head coach said: “Maybe. Gary has now had a week’s training with us, football-wise.

“While he has done work on his own, he has not played football for a long time, so we will have to make that call a bit nearer on Saturday.”

During his time at Chelsea, Cahill won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and two Europa League crowns, as well as the Champions League and League Cup.

Having played 394 times at England’s elite level, Cahill has kept 103 clean sheets in the top flight.

He is now set to step into Cherries ranks and compete for a starting spot alongside other centre-backs Lloyd Kelly, Steve Cook, Chris Mepham and Zeno Ibsen Rossi.
