DEFENDER Sam Sherring has secured a loan move to League One Accrington Stanley for the remainder of the season.

Sherring had started the season training with Scott Parker’s first-team squad, but will now run out for John Coleman’s third division outfit.

The move comes off the back of his successful campaign with Torquay United in the National League where he was named in the Vanarama team of the season.

He made 49 appearances as Gary Johnson’s Gulls finished 2nd in the table behind Sutton United, and reached the playoff final before eventual defeat to Hartlepool United.

He had previously had two loan spells at Weymouth, where the Dorchester-born centre-back helped the Terras to back-to-back promotions from the Southern League to the National League.

Sherring could be in line to make his debut for the League One side when they face Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
