BOSS Scott Parker hailed the “unbelievable finish” from Dominic Solanke, which set Cherries on their way to a 2-0 victory over Birmingham City.

The England international ran on to a measured ball forward from Ben Pearson to slot home from an acute angle and put his side 1-0 up at St Andrew’s.

Solanke’s strike was added to by Jaidon Anthony’s 87th-minute goal, as the Dorset club continued their unbeaten start to the Championship campaign.

Speaking about his side’s opener, head coach Parker said: “An unbelievable finish. He’s still got a lot to do when he gets put in there and it’s a brilliant finish.

“I was then pleased with the set-play goal because you practice hard on the training ground for long hours regarding set-plays.

“When you then see it come to fruition and you score from it, that was pleasing.”

Cherries’ victory meant they have now picked up seven points from a possible nine to begin their league season.

“I’m pleased with the result, very pleased,” added the Cherries boss.

“It was a tough game. I think we knew that from the onset really in terms of coming here. It was a difficult place to come.

“They got to a good start, put you under pressure from set-plays – always have a long throw and can put it in the box from halfway onwards.

“They can really put you under severe pressure. The whole game we dealt with it but certainly in the first half.

“I didn’t think we were at our best first half, I think we played with the ball a little too slow and it wasn’t our best in the attacking side of it. Defensively we were very strong.

“Second half we changed it a little bit in our positions and it was a bit of quality really from Solanke.”
