FORMER Cherries midfielder Jack Wilshere insisted “nothing has come up” regarding his next move as he remains a free agent.

The ex-England international has been without a club since his contract at Vitality Stadium expired at the end of June.

Wilshere rejoined Cherries under Jason Tindall last January, after the Daily Echo exclusively revealed he was training with the club in December.

He played 18 times for Cherries last campaign as they finished sixth in the Championship and missed out on promotion via the play-offs under Jonathan Woodgate.

In an interview with talkSPORT this week, Wilshere insisted he had been keeping up his fitness but was unsure when a new club would be on the horizon.

He said: “I’ve actually had a good pre-season. I’ve been training with a club just to keep myself fit. I’m in a good place, physically. I’m 29.

“I’m waiting for the right opportunity to come up, to be honest.

“But, having said that, nothing has come up at the minute and there’s nothing happening.”

He added: “I’m just waiting. I don’t really know how long I can wait, I don’t really want to wait as long as I did last time when I left West Ham in the summer, and then I didn’t get a club until January when I went to Bournemouth.

“I don’t really want to wait that long (again). So, hopefully, something will happen sooner rather than later.”
