KYLE Edwards has ended his spell on trial at Cherries, joining Ipswich Town on a free transfer.

Edwards spent around 10 days training with Cherries, and played 45 minutes for the club in last month's pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

The 23-year-old had previously been training with fellow Championship side Reading, having been released after 17 years by boyhood club West Bromwich Albion over the summer.

But Edwards does now have a new home, penning a three-year deal with League One Ipswich.

Discussing his move to Paul Cook's Tractor Boys, Edwards told the Ipswich website: "I'm really excited to be here.

"I'm at a point in my career where I need to be playing consistently. I want to show people what I can do and I think this is a great place for that.

"I can feel the buzz around the club and the aims for the season. The project here really drew me in and I want to be a part of it."

Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton added: "Kyle is a player that we have pursued all summer and we have beaten a number of Championship clubs to his signature."
