SCOTT Parker revealed how he told Danish duo Emiliano Marcondes and Philip Billing to be “relentless” with their goalscoring this season.

The midfield pair were both on target as Cherries sealed a 2-2 draw in their season opener against West Bromwich Albion on Friday.

Marcondes, who scored against Chelsea in pre-season, got off the mark competitively when he swept home Jaidon Anthony’s low centre during the first half.

Billing scored twice in as many games after firing home Jordan Zemura’s deflected cross seven minutes after the break.

And despite Dara O’Shea and Callum Robinson earning the Baggies a point, head coach Parker was happy with his midfielders’ productivity.

Asked whether it was nice for Marcondes to get off the mark early for his new club, the boss told the Daily Echo: “Yeah it was. Lovely finish, lovely goal.

“I want him to get in the box, I was pleased for him and Phil, spent a lot of time in the past six weeks in terms of asking them boys to be relentless in a sense of scoring goals, being productive this season and both of them obviously getting off the mark.

“Phil as well. A goal last weekend (against MK Dons) and now a goal on Friday. I was pleased for them.”

Marcondes joined Cherries on a free-transfer last month, following the expiration of his contract at Brentford.

He scored just seven times in 97 appearances for Thomas Frank’s Bees but had netted on 38 occasions across 120 games for Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.

Put to him that goals would help Marcondes settle in at Vitality Stadium, Parker replied: “I thought his all-round game, his endeavour and his nous around this division and he understands what this division is about.

“It was the same last year, no doubt for him as well. His experience will help us."
