ARNAUT Danjuma is edging closer to a return to action after injury, but boss Scott Parker admits: "There's a possibility Arnie may be leaving."

Parker earlier this week confirmed Cherries have turned down a bid for Danjuma this summer, believed to have come from Europa League winners Villarreal.

The Dutchman dazzled during his second season with Cherries, scoring 17 goals in 37 appearances, including in both legs of the Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Brentford.

Danjuma has not featured for Cherries during pre-season due to injury.

Asked if the 24-year-old will be fit for the club's first competitive game of the season against MK Dons tomorrow, Parker said: "He won’t be involved at the weekend, again just because of his injury.

"He is on the grass now. He’s back on the grass, he’s doing some light fitness work.

"He’s getting closer to getting back with the group, of course he is. But the reason he’s not involved again is just because he’s injured."

Quizzed again on Danjuma's future, Parker added: "At this moment in time, he’s our player. If he was fit now, he’d be playing.

"Of course I’m not going to sit here and not say is there a chance Arnie leaves the football club? Yeah, there is.

"It’s well-documented there have been offers for him, which have been rejected.

"I sit here in both stalls really. I sit here thinking there’s a possibility Arnie may be leaving, but I also sit here knowing that if that offer is not the right offer, then Arnie stays here and he’ll play a massive part in what we do.

"Until we get nearer that time, I couldn’t be definitive on that."

Asked how much he hopes Danjuma stays at the club, Parker said: "He’s got huge quality, I think we’ve all seen that.

"He’s got big quality in the final third, can score goals, create things from virtually nothing really, so of course I sit in this position and you always want exciting, top players around you.

"But I also understand where we sit with that, so we’ll see."
