SCOTT Parker hailed new loan recruit Leif Davis "a perfect signing for us" after his arrival from Leeds United.

The 21-year-old has joined Cherries on a season-long loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.

Left-back Davis came through the youth ranks at Morecambe before signing for Leeds in 2018.

He has gone on to play 14 times for Marcelo Bielsa's side, including four Premier League outings last season.

Reflecting on the club's latest signing, boss Parker told the Daily Echo: “I am looking forward to working with him.

"I think he’s a perfect signing for us – someone who can be developed, someone whose got a lot to prove.

“He can move now, take the step and come and play first-team football. I believe he can.

“There’s still room for improvement and development, which I like, which I want.

"He’s an attack-minded full-back and I suspect he will have a big part to play this year.

“Hopefully he will keep improving and moving forward really."

Newcastle-born Davis has been restricted to a bit-part role at Leeds, but was part of the squad which won promotion from the Championship in the 2019-20 campaign, featuring three times.

Asked if he had spoken to Bielsa about Davis, Parker said: "I’ve not spoken to Bielsa.

"I have spoken to a couple of people regarding him, spoke to him myself and was very impressed with how he handled himself, how he came across.

“I think at this moment he’s a perfect fit for us and we are a perfect fit for him. I am looking forward to that."

Davis could make his debut when Cherries' get their season underway with a Carabao Cup tie against Milton Keynes Dons at Vitality Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
