CHERRIES have entered the race to sign free agent Kyle Edwards this summer, according to reports.

The winger left West Bromwich Albion after his contract expired in June, a club he made 49 appearances for.

Having come up through the academy ranks at the Baggies, Edwards also departed with four senior goals to his name.

The 23-year-old has been training with Championship outfit Reading this summer and featured as a trialist during their pre-season friendly win over Lincoln City.

However, as happened with Rodrigo Riquelme last year, Cherries are now said to be looking to swoop to sign a player from under the noses of the Royals.

The Reading Chronicle claim Cherries have "expressed an interest" in Edwards, while Football Insider also say Cherries have "made a move" for the Dudley-born talent.

Celtic are also believed to be keen on Edwards, with suggestions they have held talks with his representatives over a potential move.

Cherries have made just one signing so far under new boss Scott Parker, with Emiliano Marcondes arriving on a free transfer.
