CHERRIES announced that defender Adam Smith has extended his stay with the club and signed a fresh two-year deal – with fans overjoyed at the news.
The 30-year-old was a free-agent after his last contract expired at the end of June, but cited the appointment of Scott Parker as instrumental in his decision to stay.
Smith has been with the club since 2014 and made just under 300 appearances during the seven-year stay and an earlier loan spell in 2010-11 – including 41 in the Championship last term alone.
Cherries are still in negotiations with Junior Stanislas over the possibility of a new deal, following his contract expiry and free agent status in June too.
The club have sealed the right-back though, and here’s how fans have been reacting…
On our Cherries Daily Echo Facebook group, Robert Mansell simply said: ‘Like it’.
Brian Dodd was congratulatory, adding: ‘Well done Smithy'.

Glad we’ve kept Adam Smith on board for another 2 years. Such an important player to keep, not even mentioning his versatility too. Bravo to Parker #afcb

I am pleased to Smudge sign a new deal and he was back to his best for large spells last season. It keeps that competitive strength at RB. Smith’s love for the club , Parker Project and Eddie not landing a Job probably helped complete a new deal.#AFCB https://t.co/IArtgrlcTC
