NEW recruit Emiliano Marcondes insisted it was still his dream to play in the Premier League – and believes he can get there with Cherries.

The Danish star today arrived at Vitality Stadium for his first day at his new club following the end of his quarantine period.

Marcondes finalised his move to the south coast on a three-year-contract on Saturday, signing after his deal at Brentford expired last month.

And despite not being able to feature in the top flight with the Bees, the 26-year-old described as the “perfect match” linking up with Cherries.

Put to him that his ambition matched that of those at Vitality Stadium, Marcondes told afcbTV: “Exactly, that’s why I am here. I think Bournemouth have big ambitions and I have as well.

“I want to play in the Premier League as well, it’s my dream.

“They have shown that by getting a new, very good manager. The ambitions are very high and I think it’s a top club in the Championship and are in the play for promoting this year as well.

“It’s also a big motivation for me now, to do it with another club and do it one more time.

“I didn’t have my best season last season, with some injuries. Hopefully this season I can build even more, play even more and even better – and contribute with some goals and assists.

“That’s what I’m playing for and that’s when I get the best joy, when I play football.

“I am just really looking forward to start.”

Attacking midfielder Marcondes is set to bring some more creativity to Scott Parker’s squad, with Cherries set to head out for pre-season in Spain on July 11.

And the former FC Nordsjaelland man insists the club’s style was in fact showcased to him in a Brentford training session.

“I had a few offers also this summer and the main thing was the style of play and what role I will play in the system. For me – it was the perfect match,” he added.

“When Brentford played Bournemouth (in the play-offs), I was on the bench for the first game.

“When we did our training before that game I was playing as a 10, playing against Brentford in that system – I was actually Philip Billing in training! And it actually fit me really well to play in that 8 to 10 position.

“I did well in that training and I was actually thinking ‘Bournemouth is a great system’. When we came here in the hotel I was also in love with the town.

“It’s close to the beach, so I was already thinking about it before there was even interest.”

Marcondes also revealed how former Bees team-mate Chris Mepham and fellow Dane Billing had already helped him settle into his new surroundings.

“That’s the two guys I have been in touch with and they are great guys,” he said.

“I played with Meps at Brentford and he is a lovely guy – he has helped me with a few bits already.

“Philip Billing I can speak Danish to and I think he is also happy to have a Danish guy here to also speak Danish with.

“In Brentford where we had like nine Danish players it was maybe a bit too much, but it’s great to have two faces that you know.”

Parker’s side begin their competitive fixture schedule with a home clash against MK Dons on Saturday, July 31.
