ENGLAND continue their 2020 European Championships campaign with a return to home turf as the Three Lions play hosts to Denmark in the second semi-final of the tournament.

Ahead of the 8pm kick-off on Wednesday evening at Wembley, a great sense of anticipation, optimism, and nerves engulfs the country as England have a chance to reach their first tournament final since 1966.

That is no different in Bournemouth as the Echo asks the public for their match predictions against Denmark and more importantly can Gareth Southgate’s side go all the way?

Gordon Hutchinson, 72, who is retired and expects to be watching the game at a friend's house in Poole said: “3-1 to England (against Denmark), they’ll play Italy in the final and I hate to say it but I think Italy will win that 2-1.”

Although Mr. Hutchinson doesn’t believe it’s coming home that isn’t the prediction from everyone.

John Graham, 59, from Newcastle and visiting the town for four days he thinks his home nation will come away victorious as he watches at his hotel.

Speaking with the Echo, he said: “We’re going to win hopefully, 1-0 in normal time (against the Danes).”

Believing they can go all the way he added he thought the Three Lions would face Spain in the final and come out on top.

Another visitor, Paul Moore, a banker on holiday from Romford, believed England could do it against Denmark in their first European Championship semi-final since 1996 but in a more empathetic fashion.

The 42-year-old, who expects to watch the match from the comfort of his own home, after traveling back to Essex, said: “3-0 tomorrow, but Italy will smash us in the final.

“You never know, but Italy look good, and going on form they will probably beat us.”

Fellow holidaymaker Noel Tisdale also predicts three goals but in a different configuration, he told the Echo: “We should beat them to be honest, it’s not going to be so wide but I think 2-1 to England.”

However, if they did make it to the final the retiree from Solihull was conflicted about that match, he added: “I hope we don’t win the final, as I’ve backed Italy to win.”

It’s not just the England fans who think their nation can make the final, Alan Russell who is 56, retired, and from North of the border in Scotland believes they can do it.

Speaking with the Echo ahead of the match he said: “I think one each and then penalties, I’m scared (England can go all the way).

“England are very good going forward, but they’re suspect at the back in my opinion and that’s why Denmark do have a chance because they have a go and they chase you down at the back.”

Should England emerge victorious on Wednesday they will face the winner of the clash between Italy and Spain on Sunday at 8 pm, which is also being held at Wembley.
