CHERRIES have announced former skipper Simon Francis as the club’s new assistant first-team technical director.
The role will see him work with technical director Richard Hughes and the club’s recruitment department to identify targets for new head coach Scott Parker.
Francis told the club website: “AFC Bournemouth has been a huge part in my life over the past decade.
“While I may not be playing any more, being given the opportunity to continue to help the club off the pitch is something that really excites me.
“Recruitment is something I have always kept a close eye on, as it’s such an important and intriguing aspect of the modern game.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Richard to find the best players to not only improve the team but also fit the football club.”
Legendary Cherries defender Francis played 324 times during nine years as a player at Vitality Stadium, and performed a key role in the club’s rise to the Premier League.
