CHERRIES have reportedly joined the growing chase for St Johnstone defender Jason Kerr.

The Scottish Sun claims Cherries are searching for defensive reinforcements and could land the Saints captain on a cut-price deal.

Kerr reportedly only has 12-months remaining on his contract at McDiarmid Park with a range of clubs looking to recruit him for around £400,000.

Edinburgh-born Kerr captained St Johnstone to a cup double last season, as Callum Davidson’s side claimed the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup.

He spent time on loan at East Fife and Queen of the South as a youngster, and has gone on to play 138 times for the Saints.

The Scottish Sun claim Hibernian have been long term admirers of Kerr, while Wigan and Oxford have also expressed an interest in him.

Cherries have one less centre-half to select from in comparison to the end of last season at present, following the expiration of Cameron Carter-Vickers’s loan deal.

The Dorset club and Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Carter-Vickers this summer.
