HEAD coach Scott Parker revealed how he spoke with Cherries hero Harry Arter about the “dynamics of the club” ahead of his arrival at Vitality Stadium.

Parker, 40, is married to Arter’s sister Carly and was familiar with the setup at the Dorset club, through watching the midfielder ply his trade with Cherries.

Arter joined Cherries in 2010 and played a vital role in the club's promotions from both the third and second tiers – playing 256 games in total.

Asked whether he had sounded out Arter ahead of his appointment, Parker told afcbTV: “A little bit. I spoke to Harry in terms of the club and the dynamics of the club.

“I think Neill (Blake) and Richard (Hughes) have been very open and have given me an insight into that really.

“Harry spent a long time here, was immensely successful and was part of a team in that moment which will probably go down in the history of this football club really.

“He was someone who I spoke to, just to find out a little bit more.”

Chief executive Blake insisted Parker had always been Cherries’ number one choice to take on the role of head coach this summer.
