SCOTT Parker described as “the perfect fit” his move to Cherries after he was appointed the club’s new head coach.

The 40-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Vitality Stadium and will be joined by five new faces to make up his fresh backroom staff.

Matt Wells will be assistant head coach, with Rob Burch the club’s first team goalkeeping coach.

Alastair Harris joins as head of performance, while Charlie Moore is lead physical performance coach and Jonathan Hill first team head analyst.

All five staff members have arrived at Cherries from Fulham, with Parker parting ways with the west Londoners just hours before his new role was announced.

The new boss has close links with Cherries – his wife Carly is the sister of club great Harry Arter.

Speaking to afcbTV about his arrival, former England midfielder Parker said: “I believe this is the perfect fit for both parties.

“I’m familiar with Bournemouth because of my relationship with Harry Arter. It’s a football club I know well from watching him over the years.

“The ethos, the reputation, the journey and the challenge here is something that’s very exciting for me and my staff.

“We want to build a team the fans can be proud of and one they feel represents them. We can’t wait to get started.”

Cherries were due back in for pre-season testing on Monday, with training set to start this week.

The Daily Echo understands a pre-season fixture list is being drawn up for the club and a new kit is set to be launched by the middle of July.

Cherries’ first league game comes against West Bromwich Albion at Vitality Stadium on Saturday, August 7.
