JOE Jordan has left his role on the coaching staff at Cherries, the Daily Echo can reveal.

The 69-year-old has departed the club following the expiration of his contract.

Jordan was hired by head coach Jonathan Woodgate back in February to add some experience to his backroom staff, ahead of the business end of the Championship campaign.

But the former Scotland star has departed Vitality Stadium following Cherries’ play-off semi-final defeat to Brentford last month.

Jordan previously worked with Woodgate at Middlesbrough during the 2016-17 season – and was hired as one of two coaches brought in by the Nunthorpe-born boss.

The other, Gary O’Neil, is still in position at Cherries, as well as the rest of the coaching staff at present.

The Daily Echo understands Woodgate himself has been told by the club’s board he will not be having his contract renewed by the club, with his current deal set to run out on Wednesday.

Scott Parker is the hot favourite to take over at Vitality Stadium, and is reportedly set to finalise his contract termination at Fulham within the coming days.
