CHERRIES skipper Steve Cook has paid for Mid Sussex League side Hollington United to have a defibrillator.
A defibrillator was used on Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen on Saturday, while representing Denmark at Euro 2020.
The former Tottenham midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest during his country’s opening game with Finland and had to be resuscitated on the pitch.
Eriksen remains in hospital but provided an update on his Instagram page on Tuesday saying “I feel okay”.
And just days after that incident, Sussex Cup intermediate holders Hollington announced Cook has paid for them to have a defibrillator to use.
A post on the club’s Twitter account read: “The club can announce that @SteveCook28 has paid for the club to have a defibrillator. Fantastic gesture from a local legend.”
Cook’s offer came less than an hour after Hollington had appealed via social media for local businesses to donate towards a cost of a defibrillator for the community.
The Cherries centre-back tweeted: “My pleasure. Such an important piece of equipment that every club should have.”
