NEWCASTLE United are eyeing up a summer move for Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to a report in SBI Soccer.

The American publication claim the Magpies, along with Cherries and Belgian giants Anderlecht having all "had discussions" with Spurs regarding a permanent deal for the centre-back.

Four MLS clubs are also said to be interested in a deal, with Tottenham reportedly valuing the player at around £10million. He has one year remaining on his deal in north London.

Carter-Vickers impressed during his season-long loan spell at Cherries from Tottenham, playing a key role in the side reaching the play-offs.

After an injury-hit first few months on the south coast, the 23-year-old shone under Jonathan Woodgate. After the former Middlesbrough boss took the reins in February, Carter-Vickers did not miss a minute of action for Cherries.

But after Saturday's play-off defeat at Brentford, the defender now heads back to the capital having scored one goal from his 26 appearances at Cherries, his sixth loan spell away from Spurs.

Carter-Vickers finished in third place in the Daily Echo-Micky Cave supporters' player of the season vote.

Speaking to the Daily Echo last week about Carter-Vickers, Woodgate said: "In my view, he needs to find a home. He needs to find a home and really cement a home and have that place where he’s going to play week in, week out.

"I think if I’m speaking for Cam, he’ll want that. He’ll want to try and find a home.

"I can’t see him wanting to be loaned out again and I’m sure he’d want to find a home and somewhere to settle. But he’s a really top player."
