RISING star Nathan Moriah-Welsh announced himself on the international stage after making his debut for Guyana on Tuesday.

The midfielder came on during his country’s 4-0 victory over Bahamas in a World Cup qualifier in the Dominican Republic.

Victory saw Moriah Welsh’s side go third in their CONCACAF qualifying group behind Trinidad & Tobago and St Kitts & Nevis.

Moriah-Welsh is one of a number of England-based players in the Guyana squad – having qualified to represent the country through his mother.

He joined Cherries in the summer of 2018 after previous spells with Brentford and Reading.

Elsewhere, Cherries centre-back Chris Mepham started for Wales in their impressive home victory over Czech Republic.

Daniel James’ late header gave the Dragons a 1-0 World Cup qualifying in a bad-tempered Cardiff affair.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men as Connor Roberts and Patrick Schick saw red in separate second-half incidents.

Mepham was replaced by Kieffer Moore after 56 minutes as boss Rob Page opted to change his system.

Meanwhile, Shane Long played 57 minutes for the Republic of Ireland during their 1-1 draw in a friendly against Qatar.

The striker, on loan from Southampton, has now reached 88 caps for his country.

James McClean’s first international goal for three-and-a-half years handed Ireland the lead in the fourth minute.

But Mohamed Muntari levelled two minutes after the restart as Ireland boss Stephen Kenny’s wait for a first win extended to 11 games.
