JASON Tindall stressed Cherries would get midfielder Jack Wilshere “up to speed as quickly as possible”.

The England international earlier this week confirmed his return to the Dorset club, having signed a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Wilshere played the final 12 minutes of the Dorset outfit’s 1-0 defeat to Derby at Pride Park on Tuesday.

He came on in place of David Brooks, for his first Cherries appearance in 1,376 days.

“It was great to be able to put a player of Jack’s quality on the pitch,” said the Cherries boss.

“I think you could see when he came on, he always wanted the ball, got on the ball and he’s such a good decision maker.

“He will certainly help us moving forward – certainly against teams who get a lot of people behind the ball as Derby did.”

It was the former Arsenal star’s first competitive appearance since a Carabao Cup clash for West Ham against Hull at London Stadium back in September.

Asked when Wilshere would be ready to start, Tindall replied: “It’s a tough one with Jack because he’s not played football for such a long time.

“He has only been training with the team for a couple of weeks.

“Like a few of the other lads we want to get him up to speed as quickly as we can.

“I think you saw his quality when he came on. The quality he adds to the group and you want that quality available to you.

“You want a player like that up to speed as quickly as possible.”
