CHERRIES' FA Cup fourth-round tie against Crawley Town could be rearranged for next week after a coronavirus outbreak at the League Two club, the Daily Echo understands.

John Yems's side are currently due to visit Vitality Stadium on Saturday, but that has been thrown into doubt after a number of positive COVID-19 cases at the Sussex club this week.

Crawley were forced to postpone last night's league fixture against Stevenage.

And speaking to Sky Sports today, Crawley's technical director Erdem Konyar said he hopes the FA Cup game can still be played at a later date, a possibility the FA have contacted Cherries about.

Konyar said: "At the moment we're just following EFL and the national health guidelines and we're talking to the FA as well.

"We have multiple cases which reacted in the way to call the match (against Stevenage) off, but we will have our testing again on Friday and Sunday to see if we can try and fulfil the fixture and possibly play the Bournemouth game on Tuesday.

"First and foremost the health of all the staff and players is paramount in this football club. But after our testing on Friday and Sunday we'll see if we can go on and if we can fulfil the fixture on Tuesday.

"To be honest, we have enough fit players to play on Saturday but due to the national regulations and the EFL regulations and laws, we have to abide by them and that's the reason why we will wait for the testing on Friday and Sunday.

"Hopefully if we can play on Tuesday then the financial impact will not be important, as it's not important anyway, the health is paramount."

Asked if he fears Crawley could be forced to play with a severely weakened side against Cherries, as happened to the likes of Aston Villa in the previous round of the FA Cup, Konyar added: "Obviously if we have more cases on Friday and Sunday then yes, that's something we'll have to look at.

"But we don't have an active under-23s (team), we don't have an under-18s, we've got a 30-man squad and we've got youth players in there.

"If we have to do that, then we have to do that. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there and hopefully we can get past these testings on Friday and Sunday for us to compete on Tuesday."
