MANAGER Jason Tindall revealed Jack Simpson had been ruled out of training with Cherries on Monday due to a knee problem.

The centre-back did not feature in the Dorset club’s matchday squad for Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat to Derby County.

Tindall previously confirmed the club had last week accepted an offer for academy graduate Simpson from Cardiff City – with the bid understood to be around £750,000 for the 24-year-old.

But the Cherries boss indicated there had been “no update” on that situation, regarding the Weymouth-raised star.

Asked about Simpson’s omission, Tindall told the Daily Echo: “Simmo was feeling something behind his knee. It’s been a problem that has been hampering for a couple of weeks.

“He was unable to train on Monday with that problem and was struggling when he tried to jump and run – but again it’s something which hopefully shouldn’t be too long.”

Reports on Monday suggested Simpson had decided against any transfer to south Wales, while Wales Online yesterday said the Bluebirds were still in talks over a potential swoop.

Quizzed on any update surrounding the centre-back after defeat at Pride Park, Tindall said: “No, there is no more update as far as I’m aware, no.”
