JACK Wilshere is into his second week training at Cherries as he continues his search for a new club.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after cancelling his contract with West Ham by mutual consent in October of last year.

The Daily Echo also understands Wilshere was included in this week's round of coronavirus testing carried out at Cherries.

The whole first-team squad and key coaching staff returned negative results, with only one positive from inside the club.

That came from a staff member who was already self-isolating having been in close contact with an infected person.

From next week, EFL clubs are required to test their players for COVID-19 twice per week, a process which will continue to involve Wilshere whilst he trains at the club.

Discussing the possibility of adding Wilshere to his squad on a permanent basis, boss Jason Tindall said last month: “Jack’s a player that I’ve stayed in touch with ever since his time here at Bournemouth.

“He was a great lad. He was a joy to work with when he was here and did extremely well for the football club during his time here.

“We have stayed in touch and Jack got in touch with me. We spoke on the phone and he obviously asked if he could come in and train with the team and I had no problems or no issues with that.

“He has been without a club. He’d been training on his own, doing a lot of running. It’s difficult.

“As I’ve always said, for any player that’s done well for this club in the past – if any time we can be of help to any of them, then they are more than welcome to come here and we will do our best that we can.

“That’s where we are with Jack. It’s a matter of seeing how the next couple of weeks go.”

Wilshere spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Cherries, making 27 appearances.
