SUPER stopper Asmir Begovic said Cherries were “in the mix” on their quest for promotion but insisted Jason Tindall’s men were not looking too far ahead.

The Bosnian stopper produced a string of impressive saves throughout at Rotherham on Saturday to deny the likes of Jamie Lindsay and Angus MacDonald in a 2-2 draw.

Victory would have seen the Dorset club move top of the table in the Championship, although they have the opportunity to reach the summit with victory at home against Preston tomorrow.

Jason Tindall’s men are currently one point behind leaders Norwich, who make the trip to Luton Town on Wednesday.

Assessing the battle at the summit of the table, the Cherries keeper said: “I think we’re right where we need to be up there.

“We’re in the mix. It’s a long, long season and games come thick and fast. We don’t look too far ahead.

“I think it’s just a game at a time and ultimately we’ve got another big one on Tuesday and that’s one we need to try and get three points from and make sure we stay in that mix up there.”

Assessing the weekend’s draw against the Millers, Begovic added: “A point away from home is never a bad result.

“Of course, we always want three, that’s our ambition, we want to win every single game and we’ll go into every single game with that goal but obviously sometimes that doesn’t happen.

“We take it on the chin, we competed well. Rotherham are a decent side, they’ve got a good manager so we take it as it comes.

“Obviously they are a very physical side and it was a good battle. We showed some great character to come back from 2-1 down to get a 2-2 and we’ll take the point.

“It’s a good quality, good team and they can punish you from a little mistake and it’s something we need to quickly learn from, take our medicine and move on to another big game on Tuesday.”
