CHERRIES under-21s boss Shaun Cooper heaped praise on in-form forward Jaidon Anthony after he rattled in another double against Oxford United in the Central League Cup.

The 20-year-old’s two goals helped pave the way for Cooper’s men to seal a 5-2 victory at Canford Arena.

Speaking about Anthony, who has also scored in games against Wycombe and Southend this month, Cooper told afcbTV: “Jaidon seems to just be scoring in every game he plays at the moment.

“He is full of end product and in a good space.”

Ben Greenwood (2) and George Hunt also got on the scoresheet for Cherries at Canford Arena – the latter netting his first goal since enduring 15 months out through injury.

Asked about the contest as a whole, Cooper added: “I was really pleased with the outcome. I thought the lads thoroughly deserved the win.

“We spoke in there after about how to see out a game of that nature with a bit more control and perhaps sustain our attacks a little bit better.

“We were slightly open to their clearance. We didn’t lock out well enough, so it wasn’t as comfortable as the scoreline suggests towards the end – albeit we hit the post, we hit the bar and we could have scored a few more.

“There was a lot of really good stuff within it but it’s important we don’t paper over the small cracks and the lads have got to take the lessons from that – even though we did win comfortably.

“We’ve got goals in us, that’s for sure. We’d just like to concede less.”

Cherries have now sealed two victories from as many games in the cup competition this season.
