FORMER Cherries hero Andrew Surman has signed for League One outfit MK Dons on a short-term contract.

The midfielder has been out of contract since leaving Cherries on a free transfer over the summer.

He returned to the club earlier this month to train and maintain his fitness.

And he has now linked up the Dons and could make his debut against Hull City on Saturday, before a potential clash with Cherries legends and now Shrewsbury duo Marc Pugh and Charlie Daniels next Tuesday.

Surman made 226 appearances across two spells for Cherries, including five in the Premier League last season. The Johannesburg-born ace in fact made his Cherries debut against MK Dons, as a loanee from Southampton in August 2005, scoring a last-gasp equaliser.

Speaking earlier this month, Tindall admitted he was "very surprised" Surman had not been snapped up by anyone, but the 34-year-old has now found a new club in Russell Martin's Dons.

Speaking to MK Dons iFollow, Surman said: “I’m delighted to be here and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

“I know Russ from our time at Norwich together and I know what sort of football he wants to play. It’s a brand of football that is all I’ve known for the past six years that I’ve been at Bournemouth – it’s something that suits my game.

“I’m hoping I can come in and add something to that. I’m a player that wants to get on the ball and keep it moving, and I look to impose my technical ability on every match I play. By the looks of it, I’ve come to the right place to do that.”

MK Dons sit 14th in League One.
