BRIAN Speight is celebrating his 50th year of continued membership at Espada Fencing Club.
The Southbourne fencer joined Espada in the spring of 1971 and has enjoyed success in the sport, representing Great Britain as a veteran.
He has also sat on the British Fencing board and was a key player in the organisation of the fencing programme for the 2012 London Olympics.
Speight, who is currently serving his second term as chairman, says Espada provides excellent opportunities for those wishing to take up the ancient art, yet modern Olympic sport of fencing.
With venues in both Bournemouth and Poole it caters for anyone over the age of eight.
Full training opportunities are offered by qualified coaches and all kit provided.
