JACK Stacey opened his account for Cherries on Saturday – and is tipping the Dorset club to rattle in the goals in the Championship this season.
The 24-year-old’s rocket of a strike from the edge of the box set Jason Tindall’s men on their way to a 3-2 home victory over Blackburn.
It was Stacey’s first goal for the club in a competitive game since his £4million switch from Luton in July 2019.
Speaking about the ferocious effort, the defender told afcbTV: “My mate sent me the video and the commentator said something like ‘to be honest I didn’t fancy him from there’. I think that’s echoed by myself!
“I thought I’d have a go and it’s lovely to see it go in.
“It just opened up, I think we needed something like that in the first half to give us a real impetus in the game and I love scoring goals.”
Stacey was deployed at right wing-back by boss Tindall – and is relishing the chance to get forward from that position.
“The right wing-back role, I can really get on, show my attacking qualities and hopefully get goals and assists for the team,” he added.
“It’s a very attacking line-up to be fair. Me and Smithy (Adam Smith) can get forward and we’ve got the front three and very good attacking players ahead of that.
“We should score a lot of goals this season and hopefully we keep a few clean sheets as well."
