CHERRIES boss Jason Tindall said it was for the “club to decide” regarding the future of star frontman Callum Wilson but added: “I can’t begrudge anyone that wants to play at the highest level.”

Tindall was speaking after Wilson had reportedly been subject to respective bids from Premier League outfits Newcastle and Aston Villa earlier today.

Sky Sports claim "a source close to the player" say Wilson would prefer a move to Newcastle.

The Coventry-born frontman did not feature in Cherries’ 5-3 victory over West Ham this afternoon.

Asked whether it was natural for Wilson to have reported interest from the Premier League, Tindall told the Daily Echo: “I think, and I’ve said this before, in all my time at the football club, there has always been speculation, there’s always been people wanting our best players.

“Callum falls into that category and that bracket. I can’t begrudge anyone that wants to play at the highest level.

“But in terms of what happens from here, that’s for the club to decide.

“Whatever happens – if he stays I will be absolutely delighted as a manager.

“Or if he gets an opportunity to go and play at the highest level, he certainly deserves it for the hard work that he’s put in throughout the years.”

Wilson has netted 67 goals in 187 appearances for Cherries since arriving from Coventry City in 2014.
