CHERRIES defender Brennan Camp has hailed the “incredible” feats of his former coach Mark Molesley.

Portland-born Camp, 19, played 18 times under Molesley during a loan spell for the Terras last season, also working with him extensively in the Cherries under-21s set-up.

Molesley left both his roles as Terras boss and coach at Cherries to become Southend United’s new manager last week.

Camp has seen firsthand how Molesley’s methods have led to Weymouth securing back-to-back promotions, himself helping the Terras to a play-off final victory over Dartford earlier this month to end the club’s 11-year wait to return to the National League.

Speaking before Molesley’s departure was officially confirmed, Camp told the Dorset Echo: “I don’t think anyone can say he doesn’t deserve it (the move to Southend).

“What he’s done at Weymouth over the past few years has been incredible – and what he’s done at Bournemouth as well.

“I’ve been working with him every day for the past two or three years now and me and Mark have got quite a good relationship. I know how much he deserves it.

“Weymouth will miss him and so will Bournemouth.

“It’s definitely what he deserves and hopefully he’ll do well there.”

Weymouth are now welcoming applicants to replace Molesley in the part-time role.
