ANDREW Surman says he has not spoken to new boss Jason Tindall, despite the club announcing he had been released last night.

The midfielder, who joined Cherries permanently from Norwich City in 2014, is leaving after the club opted against renewing his contract.

The 33-year-old played just nine matches last season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Surman said: "I haven't actually spoken to Jason. I actually spoke to Richard Hughes (technical director), he was the one that broke the news to me.

"That was a couple of weeks ago. I haven't spoken to Jase but I've basically spoken to everyone at the club apart from him probably.

"It was Richard Hughes who gave me a call and let me know the news."

Asked if he was surprised to have heard nothing from Tindall, Surman added: "A little bit. I've spoken literally to everyone else and probably did expect a call but I'm sure he's got 101 things to try and sort out at the club at the moment so he's probably very busy I would've thought."
