TIM Seward will captain Lions for the first time in a competitive league fixture when David Dunn's side take on Redingensians at Chapel Gate tomorrow (2.30pm).

With Dan Cawley missing through work commitments, Seward will lead the team out against bitter rivals 'Gensians as Lions look to continue their recent run of scintillating form.

And with 'Gensians pipping Lions to the South West Two East title last term, forcing Dunn's side into a nailbiting promotion play-off with Brixham, Seward is keen to get revenge on the Berkshire outfit.

The second row, who took the Lions armband in last weekend's 63-5 EDF Intermediate Cup mauling of Newton Abbot, said: "I think that was with a view to this weekend.

"I'd never captained the side from the start of the game before - it's just been when the captain has been off the pitch or in friendlies.

"It is a little bit of added pressure, but I am one of the more senior players and I am quite happy to do it.

"The team is going well now and there are a few other guys who aren't afraid to speak up and give their input."

After seven defeats on the spin in South West One, Lions appear to have turned a corner with league victories against Reading and St Ives, as well as the weekend's cup triumph.

Seward added: "Things have settled down now and we've regained some confidence.

"We're playing like we're enjoying it rather than worrying about the result."

Previewing tomorrow's clash at Chapel Gate, Seward said: "It would be nice to get one over on them. I think they've adapted to the new league a little quicker than we have.

"But I think we've turned it around and hopefully we can turn them over."

Prop Luca Firreto comes into Dunn's squad, with Robert Bruce also added to the 18.
