RETURNING star David Brooks revealed how he thrived under the pressure of playing at the top level and added: “I like being the main man.”

The Cherries playmaker has been out for more than a year due to an ankle injury but is set to feature in the Dorset club’s pivotal nine-game Premier league run in.

Speaking to Jamie Redknapp in the Daily Mail, the Wales international said: “I don’t want to sound cocky but I like the pressure. I like being the main man.

“When I go on to the pitch, I don’t feel nerves.

“I’ve only ever felt that once, and that was my Wales debut in France.

“Between now and the end of the season I just want to play. I’ve been out for over a year. I just want to get back playing. I can’t wait for Saturday.”

Quizzed on his long-term ambitions, Warrington-born Brooks replied: “The dream is to play at World Cups, the Champions League, things like that. My dreams aren’t any different.

“But my first target is to get out of the relegation zone.”
