DESPONDENT Darren Sheridan admitted Barrow were "absolutely gutted" to exit the FA Cup on a night of high drama at Dean Court.

Midfielder Sheridan was one of three players placed in temporary charge of the Bluebirds following the sacking of Phil Wilson last week.

And the former Barnsley and Oldham man played his part as the Blue Square North outfit went within a whisker of pulling off one of the greatest shocks in FA Cup history.

Sheridan said: "A lot of Bournemouth supporters came up to us and said we were very unlucky but that doesn't really help.

"We did so well in the game and I thought we were the better side in the first half.

"Although they went 1-0 up, we could have scored twice before they did.

"The story of the game was missed chances by us. If we had taken our chances, the game could have been over and we would have been in the second round.

"Nick Rogan and Jason Walker were disappointed at half-time because they had missed a couple of good chances. We told them to keep going and they both scored great goals. Nick's was an absolute peach.

"But the penalty at the death was a killer for us. I didn't think it was a penalty but you see them given every week in games. The lad did well because he was looking for it."
