EDWARD Kennett has admitted he is "flattered" his parent club Eastbourne want him back next season.

But the British Under-21 champion has stressed he would like to line up on loan for Pirates for a second successive campaign.

Stand-in Eagles boss Bob Dugard, temporarily in charge with Martin Hagon following promoter Bob Brimson's departure, is keen for Kennett to return to Arlington.

Dugard, who has ruled world champion Nicki Pedersen out of his 2008 plans, is looking to build a youthful side following the retirement of David Norris and Stefan Andersson.

And Dugard said: "One area I would to see resolved is enticing Edward back.

"I believe he's a rider who'll improve a lot if we can get him back here."

Kennett said: "It is flattering to hear that.

"It is nice to know because Eastbourne is my home town club and I have a lot of friends there.

"However, I want to do another year at Poole because it is good there.

"The promotion is really great and having Neil Middleditch as team manager has helped me improve a lot.

"I'd like to be back at Poole. That would be my first choice."

Looking back on his 2007 campaign for Castle Cover Pirates, Kennett added: "I put some points on my average, which was my aim.

"I became a heat leader, which was one of my aims, and I enjoyed myself enormously at Poole."

Pirates might be Kennett's first choice, but Eastbourne, who own his British racing contract, have first call on his services.

So he may well have to end up at Arlington, where he began his top-flight career in 2003.

The youngster has already tied up a deal with Swedish Elite League Indianerna for 2008.
