CHERRIES' youth team were knocked off the top of the table after Plymouth Argyle inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Joe Roach's side.

Hosting Argyle without the services of goalkeeper Ryan Pryce and forward Josh McQuoid, who were both on first team duty, Cherries went down 3-2 and dropped to fourth place in the Puma Youth Alliance South West Conference.

"Plymouth created quite a lot of chances but I felt that our resolve was there," Cherries head of youth Roach told the Daily Echo.

"We worked extremely hard against a very strong side."

But Roach thought his side could have been more effective when they had the ball.

He said: "We let ourselves down in possession of the ball. We didn't use it as well as we can do.

"We had to change the formation three times and the personnel in the team three times to try and get back into the game."

Elliott Cooper and James Queere were on target for Cherries in Saturday's clash.

"James Queere was rewarded for his defensive work by bursting forward and scoring," added Roach.
