FORMER Premier League star Shaka Hislop said Aaron Ramsdale had been “simply outstanding” for Cherries this season and tipped him to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.

The England under-21 international was last week linked with Frank Lampard’s men in a report in Mail Online.

And Hislop, who played 221 top-flight games during spells at the likes of Newcastle, Portsmouth and West Ham, hailed the Cherries’ stopper’s ability.

The former Trinidad & Tobago international told ESPN: “Ramsdale has been simply outstanding. There is no other way to put it.

“Let’s just say somehow, they get everything sorted and Kepa moves on, Ramsdale comes in. I think he does a wonderful job for Chelsea.

“He has been outstanding for Bournemouth in a very difficult circumstance.

“As a young goalkeeper, you are looking for weaknesses in his game. I don’t think he has an awful lot.

“He is a solid shot stopper. He always looks composed within the goal and has a real presence about him, which is not something I say about many goalkeepers easily.

“I have been impressed.”

Ramsdale has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough campaign at Cherries this season, playing 28 of 29 Premier League matches so far for Eddie Howe's men.

He penned a new long-term contract extension with the Dorset club back in October.
