A LATE winner from James King ensured Hamworthy United toppled high-flying Christchurch 1-0 in Wessex Premier.

King’s strike proved enough for Tim Sills’s side to seal the spoils against Ollie Cherrett’s men, who conceded for the first time in six games in all competitions.

The clash was moved to New Milton Town’s Fawcetts Field, due to pitch conditions at Priory’s usual Hurn Bridge home.

Victory put Hammers up to seventh in the table, with 47 points from 31 league games.

Christchurch are fourth on 51 points from 24 league outings – 12 behind leaders AFC Stoneham with five games in hand.

Elsewhere in the division, Bashley were held to a 3-3 draw at Solent University. Conor Whiteley notched a brace for the New Forest outfit, Lewis Ross was also on target.

Mitch Speechley-Price struck twice as Brockenhurst drew 2-2 at Fareham Town.

In Wessex One, Verwood Town secured their ninth league victory of the campaign after overcoming Fawley 3-1 at Potterne Park.

Callum Butler put Potters ahead on four minutes before Owen Nicholson doubled the advantage seven minutes later.

Fawley did pull a goal back just past the hour mark but Butler struck his second late on to seal the spoils.
