POOLE Town chairman Chris Reeves confirmed Dolphins have banned a small number of fans from the club after “generally offensive behaviour”.

The club today issued a statement confirming the action following “disrespect” shown during Saturday’s loss at Beaconsfield.

Southern League South strugglers Beaconsfield, who came from behind to beat Dolphins 2-1, alleged on their club Twitter account on Saturday: “The Poole supporters, in frustration have pulled a sign down from behind the goal, not welcome behaviour.”

In today’s statement, Reeves said: “Regrettably, vice chairman Richard Gale and I had to deal with some unacceptable behaviour from a small number of so-called Poole ‘supporters’ on Saturday at Beaconsfield.

“The disrespect shown to our opponents and the generally offensive behaviour of three individuals in particular fell a long way short of the standards with which we want the club to be associated.

“To the Beaconsfield officials, supporters and stewards I can only apologise and reiterate that this is not what we as a club are about.

“We will not put up with this and we have banned those responsible from the Black Gold.”

Meanwhile, Dolphins have announced there will be pitch inspection at 1.15pm ahead of tomorrow’s home fixture with Met Police.
